Almighty has brought forth many talented, hardworking and legendary figures who, despite coming from smaller cities, managed to twinkle in galaxy of shining stars that left perpetual imprints in the history of humanity. Prof. (Dr.) Haroon Khizir Taqui Raza, was one such person. He was born, brought-up and spent his most of life in Jabalpur (M.P.) but his reflections can be seen in West Bengal Orthopaedic Association (WBOA) Front. Before discussing his reflections in WBOA, it is pertinent to have a look on his brief biodata.[1],[2].

Prof. (Dr.) Haroon Khizir Taqi Raza was born in 1956 in Jabalpur. He did his Medical Graduation (1978) and Post-Graduation (1982), both from Jabalpur. After this, he was in G.R. Medical College, Gwalior for some time as Faculty from where he was transferred to NSCB (Govt.) Medical College, Jabalpur. He devoted most of his life here, in Jabalpur and was Professor & Head, for more than 23 years. While working as Professor & Head, he was also the Director of Peripheral Artificial Limb
Fitting Centre and Director of Spinal Injury Centre of this College. During his final stage of life, he was Dean, Govt. Medical College, Chhindwada (M.P.) for about 1 year.
Prof. HKT Raza had been involved with many associations with different capacities. The important ones are President of Indian Orthopaedic Association (IOA), Hony. Secretary of IOA, President of APOA, President of Social Orthopaedic Society India, Vice-President of Orthopaedic Association of SAARC Countries (OASAC) etc.
Dr. Raza is recognized as a reformer to streamlining the functioning of the I.O.A. The activity needs special mentions are “The Blue Book,” “IOA Newsletter,” I.O.A members Directory, Constitutional Amendments and initiation of record number of I.O.A awards during his tenure.

In brief, Prof. Raza was very dynamic, highly intellectual person, Researcher, Teacher, Leader and what not. He was known not only for his command over Orthopaedics but for his compassion, high morals, ethics and honesty. But it was great loss for Orthopaedic Fraternity and Society
when he breathed last on March 14, 2019.

The Biodata[1],[2] reflects that Dr. Raza, during his medical profession, touched countless lives as the leading Orthopaedician not only in India but South East Asia. Besides being a wonderful surgeon, Prof. H. K. T. Raza was a thorough administrator, an organizer to be precise.[1] He was elected as the Secretary of the IOA for two terms. He rose to the highest ranks of the Indian Orthopaedic Association and became its youngest President in 2006.

He was always inclined to WBOA activities. The journey started from 1994, when he came to Burdwan as Guest Speaker for Annual conference of WBOA (WBOACON – 1994). During this conference he was so impressed and inspired with our conference and senior members that he became the Life Member of our WBOA. Since then, he used to come Bengal for academic activities. It was IOACON – 2007 when he came to Kolkata while holding the highest post of IOA, that is, “The President of IOA.” He always felt WBOA, as major contributor of his success.

In brief, during the last 3 decades, Dr. Raza had been at the centre of IOA, APOA and even World Orthopaedics but never ignored WBOA. There are many reflections of his activities which can be seen and felt through WBOA. He left us in March 2019 but he and his work will always be with us and always inspire us. This article, is a tribute to him. May God bless his soul.
